Welcome to Purely Caiya

My name is Cai, the creative and maker behind Purely Caiya. I am a former high school teacher and U.S. Army veteran who found my way to this work through an unexpected moment of turmoil. When I made the difficult decision step away from the classroom, a career that had always been my dream, I turned to the simplistic for solace. In the quiet rhythm of tending a garden, steeping flowers, and blending oils, I rediscovered both purpose and peace.

For my entire life I have struggled with eczema and very sensitive skin. Scent was once something I admired from afar, or chose to embrace at the cost of discomfort and irritating flare ups. What began as a search for gentler alternatives soon deepened into a study of the skin’s relationship with nature. I found myself captivated by the science and symbolism of botanicals, the healing of oils and butters, and the profound ways scent can awaken memory and emotion.

Purely Caiya was born in that space between healing and creation. At first, I crafted for myself, my family, and friends. Here I found a lot of joy, comfort, and distraction in the act of creating. My husband, my greatest supporter, urged me to share my work beyond our home. I brought a very small, rudimentary collection of soaps to a local market, unsure of what to expect. What I found there was kindness, curiosity, and connection. Things I hadn't felt since my days as a teacher. This illuminated something within me; what began as a form of self-care became a way to offer care to others.

The name Purely Caiya is both a declaration and a devotion: a promise to remain true to myself and to the values that shaped this journey. Every product is an intersection of my passions: nature, herbalism, literature, scent, and the art of thoughtful design. Together, they form a sort of sensory storytelling, an apothecary of emotion and memory, transformed into texture and fragrance.

Our signature Garden Magic oil embodies the spirit of what we do. It took a year to develop, beginning with seeds my husband and I planted in our garden. We harvested and dried the petals by hand, infusing them slowly into organic oils over eight weeks to preserve their integrity and potency. Each product carries the quiet labor of that process. A piece of the season, the soil, and the hearts that tended it.

Our commitment is simple yet uncompromising. Every fragrance is composed in-house, drawn entirely from clean ingredients: essential oils, resins, botanical extracts, hydrosols, and aromatics. We will always remain free from parabens, phthalates, carcinogens, and all ingredients listed under California Prop 65. We never test on animals and only source materials from suppliers whose ethics mirror our own. Our packaging reflects the same care: recycled glass, compostable materials, and re-used shipping supplies. 

Each creation is made by hand in small, intentional batches. Every label is designed and cut in-house, every blend mixed with care, each note written by me, every package wrapped as though it were a gift. This is the rhythm of Purely Caiya: deliberate, patient, sincere.

I believe that scent is a form of language, one that speaks to memory, mood, and the deeper parts of ourselves. We strive to write in that language, crafting pieces of quiet beauty meant to soothe, inspire, and transport.
